Andrew LaMar

Andrew LaMar works on public safety issues, with a focus on corrections. He also coordinates legislative training programs on writing and communications. LaMar joined the California Senate Office of Research in 2013 after working for two years for Senate Majority Leader Ellen M. Corbett, first as her communications director and then as her chief of staff. He previously served as the communications director for former California Senate President Pro Tempore Don Perata and prior to that was a newspaper reporter for 19 years.

LaMar holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Oregon.
