Stewardship of State Lands: Opportunities for Progress in the Golden State
Lizzie Urie, Goldman School of Public Policy, University of California at Berkeley, Spring 2018
This report examines the stewardship of California’s lands and explores several research questions such as: What does stewardship entail? What actions has the state taken so far to protect and enhance its natural resources? How large is the unmet need for annual stewardship funding? What steps might the state take to implement a stewardship policy and funding for the policy? This research is presented as part of a master’s thesis project; Lizzie Urie is a Master of Public Policy student at UC Berkeley’s Goldman School of Public Policy, where she has studied the intersection of state natural resources and fiscal policy.
